We are looking for someone to lead and strengthen the Host City Relations Australia team in charge of organising the biggest women’s sporting event in the world: the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia New Zealand 2023™.


To ensure the successful operational delivery of the ninth edition of this competition, we have set up a local events team. Its aim is to improve the experience of over 1.1 billion people watching the FIFA Women’s World Cup™, by delivering innovative solutions across all operational areas.

Host City Relations Manager - Australia


Job responsibilities

As the Host City Relations Manager – Australia, reporting to the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful coordination of government integration into the planning and delivery of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023

Under the guidance of the Head of Operations, you will manage the operational relationship between governments and the FIFA Entity to ensure the seamless delivery of all government obligations.

The Host City Relations Manager is required to build strong relationships with government agencies and manage the flow of information between FIFA Entity functional areas and government representatives.


Job duties

Your role as Host City Relations Manager – Australia includes the following responsibilities:

  • Manage the creation and administration of government working groups to ensure a continual flow of information between government and the FIFA Entity, monitoring that correct mechanisms are in place to manage and resolve issues
  • Lead and manage government and associated stakeholder relationships to ensure the delivery of all hosting obligations, commitments and tournament-related programs
  • Act as the Entity’s central point of contact for host cities and other government agencies, ensuring the proactive sharing of information between these groups and the FIFA Entity and FIFA Zurich when appropriate
  • Support the successful implementation of the strategy for the operation and activation of host city activities such as host city theming, live sites, city transport plans and city volunteer programs, collaborating with relevant FIFA Entity functional areas
  • Develop strong relationships with all key stakeholders to ensure open and transparent communication is adopted and information is proactively shared
  • Collaborate with the Football Australia Government Relations department to ensure seamless information sharing and escalation of issues as required.


Qualifications & experience

You will have proven experience working with State and Federal governments within the major event environment, and be a politically astute professional with the ability to secure ‘buy in’ from a range of internal and external stakeholders. As a natural communicator, you will have the ability to build, maintain and leverage relationships with credibility at all levels. You will possess a good understanding of and experience with the machinery of State and Federal Government processes and procedures.

You must possess the legal entitlement to work in Australia.

You must be able to delegate tasks appropriately while being transparent and assuming accountability for any decisions taking on your watch.
