FIFA Fan Festival Manager - New Zealand

If you are a seasoned Marketing Events Manager interested in a once-in-a-lifetime job in the sports industry, this is your chance. We are looking for someone to lead and strengthen the team in charge of organising the biggest women’s sporting event in the world: the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™.

To ensure the successful operational delivery of the ninth edition of this competition, we have set up a local events team. Its aim is to improve the experience of over 1.1 billion people watching the FIFA Women’s World Cup™, by delivering innovative solutions across all operational areas.

Job responsibilities

The FIFA Fan Festival is FIFA’s official public (viewing) event, which is an essential part of each FIFA World Cup™ since 2006 and happens for the first time in all Host Cities of the FIFA Women’s World Cup™. Over the last four editions almost 40 million fans visited the event to share emotions, celebrate together and enjoy the unique tournament experience free of charge.

The FIFA Fan Festival Manager NZL, is responsible for the successful implementation of one of the most exciting and complex projects within the FIFA Women’s World Cup. In this role, the FIFA Fan Festival Manager works closely together with their counterpart in FIFA’s headquarters, their Australian counterpart, the FIFA Women’s World Cup Local Entity team, Host Cities and other tournament stakeholders.

This position is a great opportunity to support the development of a unique and connected experiential marketing project across New Zealand.

 

Job duties

The duties and responsibilities of the FIFA Fan Festival Manager NZL include:

  • Together with the FIFA Fan Festival™ Manager in Zurich, define the project scope, goals and the overall strategy for FIFA Fan Festivals (FFF)
  • In collaboration with the FIFA Fan Festival™ Manager in Zurich, the Host City Relations Manager and the Host Cities, oversee the operational implementation of the FFF program
  • Manage all rights, obligations and requirements of all stakeholders involved in the delivery of the FFF, including the development of rights packages made available to Commercial Affiliates (Cas), Media Rights Licensees (MRLs) and licensing partners
  • Maintain strong operational relationships with all local key stakeholders, including Host Cities and their agencies and suppliers, CAs, MRLs, FIFA agencies, etc. as required to ensure each FFF event is a success
  • Oversee the development of the scope, design and technical requirements for the core infrastructure and branding used on-site as well to ensure sufficient monitoring of the delivery by local organisers
  • Oversee and coordinate the development of a FFF promotion/communication strategy and a digital rights strategy in collaboration with the FIFA Fan Festival™ Manager in Zurich and the Local Entity Team (Host City Relations, Marketing and Communications)
  • Monitor Host City FFF budgets and work with the Host City Relations Manager to make recommendations on budget changes where necessary
  • Coordinate the overall project management, planning and reporting for the FFF program in collaboration with the FIFA Fan Festival™ Manager in Zurich and the Host City Relations and Marketing teams
  • Organise and deliver project workshops, site inspections and meetings with relevant FFF stakeholders and suppliers
  • Set and continually manage, together with the FIFA Fan Festival™ Manager in Zurich, and the Host City Relations Manager, the project expectations with stakeholders
  • Proactively manage changes in the project scope, identify potential crises and work with the Host City to devise contingency plans
  • Oversee correct usage of FIFA’s event marks with regards to FFF and be fully responsible for all marks approvals, working in collaboration with the Brand Marketing team
  • Together with the FIFA Fan Festival™ Manager in Zurich and the Host City Relations Manager, approve FFF event activations by the Host Cities
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Marketing Services, Promotions Manager NZL, Brand Marketing Manager NZL, Government Relations and community engagement team, FIFA Fan Festival Manager AUS and the rest of the Local Entity team to ensure a successful FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023TM

 

Qualifications & experience

The successful candidate will have a degree in marketing or an events related field along with previous project management experience managing large scale events and brand activations. Knowledge of sports marketing, including sponsorship is advantageous. Previous experience working with national / local / regional governments and related events will be highly regarded.

 

Skills

You must be energetic and self motivated and demonstrate advanced negotiation and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail. Experience in navigating complex and cross functional internal and external stakeholder relationships at a senior level is essential. You will be goal oriented and result-driven, with strong decision-making and analytical skills whilst demonstrating a sense of creativity and an innovative mindset. You will require exceptional written and verbal skills to help present concepts to external partners. Proficiency with MS Office and SAP is advantageous.
