To ensure the successful operational delivery of the ninth edition of this competition, we have set up a local events team. Its aim is to improve the experience of over 1.1 billion people watching the FIFA Women’s World Cup™, by delivering innovative solutions across all operational areas.

Digital Marketing Manager – New Zealand

 

Job responsibilities

As Digital Marketing Manager, reporting to the Head of Marketing you will be responsible for driving and implementing a sustainable and commercially focused digital marketing strategy for the FWWC 2023 brand under the guidance of the Head of Marketing, to fulfil the tournament marketing mission in alignment with the overarching FIFA vision for women’s football. This position will play a key role in developing, overseeing, and executing digital marketing initiatives for the New Zealand market including fan engagement, destination, and milestone marketing to drive commercial outcomes.

 

Job duties

Your role as Digital Marketing Manager includes the following responsibilities:

  • Paid, owned and earned digital channel strategy for commercial marketing activities in collaboration with our marketing agency, the Event Promotions and Experiential marketing team, and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Digital marketing planning for FIFA channels around key brand milestones and event promotion activities, including content development with the Communications and Broadcast teams, and the marketing agency
  • Alignment of host country digital marketing initiatives with global channel and campaign planning in collaboration with the FIFA Zurich team, including the opening of new social channels, publishing of content on FWWC channels, and paid campaigns executed via FIFA digital channels
  • Manage briefing of the broadcast team for content production related to promotional needs
  • Facilitate FIFA Fan Movement digital activities and campaigns in the host countries as required
  • Liaison with key local stakeholders
  • Execution of the digital marketing plan in alignment with the overarching tournament promotional plan for New Zealand
  • Coordinate and deliver campaign content to be published on non-FIFA owned platforms
  • Ensure locally produced promotional content meets commercial objectives and is delivered in correct formats for campaign delivery across owned, earned and paid channels
  • Ensure that FIFA’s digital channels showcase local content on the host countries such as Host Cities, Football Ferns, legacy programs and other relevant women's football content to drive interest from our target audience groups
  • Drive follower growth and tournament revenue growth on key social media channels to meet agreed KPIs
  • Provide digital marketing advice as required to shape broader promotional activities and partnership initiatives, including ongoing research and trend analysis
  • Providing clear briefs to internal design and production resources and external agencies to create impactful digital marketing campaign initiatives, milestones and projects
  • Show proactive and solution driven approach to digital marketing related matters
  • Identify relevant, innovative and meaningful digital marketing opportunities
  • Monitor digital marketing activity in the host country, including detailed reporting on digital metrics, activities and KPIs
  • Facilitate on-site relationships with key stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Marketing Services, Promotions Marketing Manager NZL, Brand Marketing Manager NZL, Partnerships Manager NZL, and the rest of the Local Entity team to ensure a successful FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023TM
  • Collaborate closely with FIFA Zurich team including the Head of Digital Marketing, Head of Digital Content, Senior Brand Marketing Manager, Event Promotions & Experiential Marketing Manager, and other digital team members to ensure a successful FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023TM
     

 

 

Qualifications & experience

You will have a university degree, preferably in Marketing/Communications, with a minimum of 8 – 10 years experience in digital marketing/communications, with proven experience leading strategic planning processes and plans. Understanding of sports marketing, including sponsorship and brand communication and knowledge in football and/or professional sports a distinct advantage. Proven ability to deliver integrated digital communications and promotional campaigns in support of strategic brand and commercial objectives with exposure to managing external creatives and agencies across marketing disciplines is essential.

 

Skills

This position requires someone to be goal oriented and result-driven, with strong decision-making and analytical skills. You will have proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in cross-functional collaboration. Experience in navigating complex internal and external stakeholder relationships at a senior level with the ability to present strategy and concepts to stakeholders is a must. Proficiency with MS Office, knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and international experience is an advantage.
